Here&#8217;s How You Can Help!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Did you know that October is Bullying Awareness Prevention Month?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ACPS is shining a light on efforts to raise awareness about bullying and how we can all work together to prevent it.<\/p>\n<p>The City of Alexandria is a key ally in this effort. Together we created this public service announcement to encourage those who are being bullied or who witness bullying to speak up.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/237127180\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>ACPS investigates all reports of bullying and encourages students or parents\/guardians of students who have been bullied or witnessed bullying to immediately report such incidents to the school principal or assistant principal.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3602 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/BullyPhone-199x360-199x360.png\" alt=\"ACPS App\" width=\"199\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/BullyPhone-199x360.png 199w, http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/staff\/wp-content\/uploads\/BullyPhone-199x360-55x100.png 55w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 199px) 100vw, 199px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Instances of bullying can also be reported to ACPS via the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acps.parentlink.net\/tipline\/?title=Tip+Line&amp;s=1\">ACPS mobile app tip line<\/a>. Tips can be anonymous, however, providing as much information as possible will assist ACPS in investigating the instance of bullying.<\/p>\n<p>ACPS offers a number of resources to raise awareness and support families, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acps.k12.va.us\/Page\/418\">Tips for Parents<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acps.k12.va.us\/Page\/417\">Bullying Prevention Resources<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acps.k12.va.us\/Page\/415\">Information on How to Be an Ally<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The City of Alexandria is a <a href=\"http:\/\/alexandriava.gov\/recreation\/info\/default.aspx?id=51726\">Safe Place<\/a>\u00a0city that offers a network of locations where youth in crisis can get immediate help. It also offers a\u00a024-hour hotline to report bullying or crisis events. To access immediate help and support for young people ages five through 18, call 703-746-5400. Learn about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alexandriava.gov\/EndBullying\">Mayor&#8217;s campaign to end bullying<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Be an ally! Get to know these resources and share them with those who may need them.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last week, students from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acps.k12.va.us\/Domain\/9\">Francis C. Hammond Middle School<\/a> participated\u00a0in <a href=\"https:\/\/rachelschallenge.org\/\">Rachal&#8217;s Challenge<\/a> and took the pledge to be kind.
