We are asking staff to promote the message that <strong><em>Every Student Succeeds, When Every Student Attends <\/em><\/strong>and help our students get to school on time every day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Did You Know?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Celebrating good and improved attendance can positively impact student engagement and school climate.<\/li>\n<li>School attendance habits are developed as early as kindergarten.<\/li>\n<li>Children who are absent from school in kindergarten and first\u00a0grade are much less likely to read on grade level by the end of third grade.<\/li>\n<li>School attendance habits in the ninth\u00a0grade can be a strong indicator of students\u2019 graduation or drop-out outcomes.<\/li>\n<li>School staff can promote positive attendance by recognizing students and families who have consistent attendance habits.<\/li>\n<li>A child is less likely to succeed academically if he or she is chronically absent. Missing just one school day every two weeks can place children at risk of academic failure.<\/li>\n<li>An absence from school, regardless of the reason, results in missed instruction and class time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ensuring positive school attendance is a collaborative effort which requires students, ACPS staff and parents to work together. Positive and consistent communication is a very important part of this collaborative process.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cEvery Student Succeeds, When Every Student Attends.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>September is National Attendance Awareness Month.
