Executive Director of Student Services Jeffrey Carpenter has been appointed Trustee for the <\/span>National Association of Pupil Services Administrators (NAPSA).\u00a0 <\/span>NAPSA is the only national organization that focuses its efforts on the development of administrators and programs designed to serve the academic, social, emotional and physical needs of all students.<\/span><\/p>\n

Carpenter, who celebrates his one year anniversary with ACPS this month, works to ensure that the Office of Student S<\/span>ervices partners with families, staff, and the community in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of programs and services and in creating new opportunities in support of the academic, career and social emotional needs of the students so that every student succeeds.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\u201cIts a vote of confidence. I have been asked to be a trustee for several years, but never felt that I was ready. \u00a0After nearly 16 years in education, I felt it was a good time to get involved on a national level,\u201d said Carpenter.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Carpenter brings 16 years of experience to this role. Prior to joining ACPS, Carpenter served as the Director of Student Services for Arlington Public Schools. He also\u00a0worked as a school psychologist and supervisor of special education in Winton Woods City School District in Ohio for 10 years. Carpenter has also served on several district and community centered committees, including Multi-Tiered System of Supports Committees, Mental Health Taskforce, ADHD Task Force, Arlington Partnership for Children Youth and Families, Juvenile Justice Committee, Community Advocacy Committee, Cultural Competence Council, Discipline Committee, Department of Human Services\/APS\/Court Crossover Youth Committee and the City of Alexandria\u2019s Mayors Campaign to End Bullying.<\/span><\/p>\n

The oldest of four children, Jeff is a native of West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. \u00a0He attended Philadelphia public schools for all of his Pre-K \u2013 12 education. Carpenter lives in Maryland with his wife, Gloria, \u00a0and their three daughters, Jillian (10), Kristian (5) and Vivienne (5). \u00a0Jeff enjoys movies and music of all types and cooking. Thanksgiving is his favorite holiday \u2013 lots to cook!<\/span><\/p>\n

Carpenter’s appointment directly addresses the ACPS 2020 Strategic Plan goal that calls for an exemplary staff.<\/p>\n
