This week\u2019s highlighted courses:<\/h2>\n

Making ‘Writing Workshop’ More Authentic for Today’s Kids with Today’s Tools<\/strong>
\nLearn how to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of Writing Workshop. By the end of the session, participants will be able to state one enhancement they will make to their Writing Workshop block. This session is geared to K-5 teachers who have access to devices, but all teachers are welcome to attend. #14726<\/strong><\/p>\n

Student-Centered Learning<\/strong>
\nThis INPS full-day workshop will focus on designing student-centered lesson plans and units where English Learners have the opportunity to be active participants in the learning process. #14737\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The DBQ Project<\/strong>
\nHow can we engage all students in higher-level thinking, reading and writing using primary sources and historical thinking skills?<\/p>\n

Participants will practice using instructional strategies to help students read, contextualize, and analyze primary sources, and develop strategies to engage students in historical thinking, analysis, and developing evidence-based arguments. This session emphasizes the elements of a powerful DBQ essay and introduces teachers to writing supports they can use to promote strong evidence-based writing. Teachers will practice the DBQ Project 6-step method in a lively, interactive session and will also spend time analyzing student work and norming student essays using the DBQ Project writing rubric. #14734\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
