ACPS welcomed new Director of Budget and Financial Systems, Michael Herbstman, this month.<\/p>\n
Herbstman will be helping to lead the annual budget development process for the Capital Improvement Program and the Combined-Funds Budget. In addition, he will monitor budgets, ensure compliance with various policies, regulations, grant rules and best practices, development\/maintenance of budget policies and procedures and serve as a liaison to schools and central office departments for budget items.<\/p>\n
Herbstman has an extensive background in financial management and experience that includes work with the Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Chicago Public Schools and with a private risk management consulting firm.<\/p>\n
A recent Chicago transplant, Herbstman is still loyal to Chicago sports teams and is a self-proclaimed budget and policy nerd.<\/p>\n
