The certification process identifies accomplished teachers through a rigorous program that includes four components: one exam and three portfolio submissions. Through NBCT, dedicated teachers demonstrate their commitment to teaching and maintaining the industry\u2019s highest standards.<\/p>\n<p>The benefits of National Board Certification include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improves student achievement and learning.<\/li>\n<li>Provides an opportunity for teachers to grow and challenge themselves.<\/li>\n<li>Recognizes accomplished teachers.<\/li>\n<li>Can lead to increased salary and leadership opportunities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Learn more about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbpts.org\/certification\/get-started\/\">National Board Certification process<\/a>. To be eligible for certification, applicants must:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Hold a bachelor\u2019s degree from a regionally accredited institution.<\/li>\n<li>Have at least three FULL years of teaching experience by the end of the 2020-21 school year.<\/li>\n<li>Hold a valid teaching license.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>ACPS supports a two-year submission timeframe during which teachers participate in monthly meetings, are part of a professional learning community and receive support on the technical aspects of the process. ACPS also funds most of the $2,050 cost for the majority of selected candidates.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m interested!
