For these schools, teachers will report to work and students will have the day off.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School follows the 2021-22 Modified Academic Calendar and had its TWD scheduled earlier in January.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"school-board-meeting-summary\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"school-board-meeting-summary\"><\/span>School Board Meeting Summary<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As part of its meeting on Thurs., Jan. 20, the School Board hosted a public hearing on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acps.k12.va.us\/Page\/488\">Combined Funds Fiscal Year 2023 budget<\/a>. Following the meeting, the Board transitioned to a Work Session on the FY 2023 budget.<\/p>\n<p>All ACPS budget materials, including the Superintendent\u2019s FY 2023 Proposed Combined Funds Budget, the FY 2023 Proposed Operating Fund Budget and the 2023-32 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget, are available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acps.k12.va.us\/Page\/488\">ACPS Financial Services and Budget web page<\/a>. You can also visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acps.k12.va.us\/Page\/570\">School Board meeting web page<\/a> for information on how to view meetings live.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"acps-red-ribbon-award-winners\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"acps-red-ribbon-award-winners\"><\/span>ACPS Red Ribbon Award Winners<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The 2021 Red Ribbon Week Poster Contest ACPS elementary and high school winners have been announced: Caitlin Feehely, a junior at Alexandria City High School (ACHS), and Ashly Isabel Luna Jimenez, a kindergarten student from William Ramsay Elementary School, provided wonderful prevention messages on the benefits of a drug-free lifestyle. As the theme was \u201cDrug Free Looks Like Me,\u201d both students displayed creativity in focusing on why students prefer being drug-free as it allows them to have a clear mind to make the right decisions, enjoy life and learn.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to receiving a $100 gift card, the Red Ribbon Week winners\u2019 posters will be featured as part of the 2022 Red Ribbon Week campaign celebrated each October in communities across the nation. This drug prevention awareness campaign is an ideal way for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand against drugs.<\/p>\n<p>This contest is hosted locally in collaboration with the ACPS Family and Community Engagement Center, the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Alexandria, SCAN of Northern Virginia and the Mayor\u2019s Campaign to End Bullying.
