Most families qualify for the program based on their income, but eligibility requirements, such as other risk factors, may also be considered.<\/p>\n<p>To determine eligibility and register, beginning April 9, visit the ACPS Central Office at 1340 Braddock Place between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. To download a registration packet and review checklist of required documents, visit the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.acps.k12.va.us\/preschool\/vpi.php\">ACPS VPI<\/a>\u00a0web page.<\/p>\n<h3>VPI Program Locations<\/h3>\n<p>VPI programs are offered at James K. Polk and William Ramsay elementary schools, Jefferson-Houston School and the new\u00a0Early Childhood Center at John Adams Elementary School. The modernized Early Childhood Center at John Adams, which will open this fall, will have classroom space for 360 students and will include students from ACPS Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI), The Campagna Center Head Start program, ACPS Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) and ACPS Preschoolers Learning Together (PLT).<\/p>\n<p>Last month <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/news\/?p=8696\">Heidi Haggerty Wagner<\/a> was appointed the principal of the new Early Childhood Center.\u00a0Wagner has extensive experience in specialized instruction and has spent most of her career working with students with disabilities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ACPS offers free pre-K to qualified families through the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI).
