{"id":2823,"date":"2016-05-29T16:30:06","date_gmt":"2016-05-29T20:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/news\/?p=2823"},"modified":"2016-06-02T10:44:50","modified_gmt":"2016-06-02T14:44:50","slug":"wear-orange-on-june-2-to-show-support-for-anti-violence-efforts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.acpsk12.org\/news\/?p=2823","title":{"rendered":"Wear Orange on June 2 to Show Support for Anti-Violence Efforts"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Join us in wearing orange on Wednesday, June 2 in a show of support for anti-violence efforts.<\/p>\n<p>As part of our commitment to providing a safe learning and working environment, students, educators and staff are invited to<strong> wear orange<\/strong> in honor of those who have lost their lives to violence.<\/p>\n<p>Orange is the color that was chosen by friends to honor the life of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old high school student from the south side of Chicago who was shot and killed in January 2013. On June 2, 2015, on what would have been Hadiya&#8217;s 18th birthday, a group of her friends chose to wear orange to remember her life.<\/p>\n<p>They chose orange because it is the color that hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves and others.
